7 REASONS YOU MIGHT FAIL WHEN TRYING A  WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM/DIET.

I heard on the radio that Ireland is fast becoming the most obese nations in Europe check the stats here <<< and it got me thinking why do so many people struggle with weight loss?

With 90% of the people, we see at Impact Strength & Performance, Blackrock it boils down to 7 things. Sometimes it’s just one of the things below as the main culprit and other times it’s a combination of them.

Either way, it derails people’s ability to lose weight faster than a fireman sliding down his pole.

  1. YOU RUN OUT OF TIME (AND QUIT).

Most people totally overestimate what they can do in 6-12 weeks and totally underestimate what they can do in 6-12 months.

For most people 1-2lb is realistic for the first few weeks and then things totally slow down, maybe you lose weight for 4-6 weeks then things slow down for 2-3 weeks, and then you start to drop weight again.

The trick is to keep changing some variable just before weight loss stalls or as it slows.

If lifting weights three times a week and eating 2000 calories caused you to drop 5 kg in 4 weeks, you’ll have to change things up to keep progressing.

Add more training maybe a walk or jog and or slightly drop calories another 5-10%. Most people set a goal and run out of time before they achieve it so instead of changing the goal they just give up.

2.YOU RUN OUT OF MONEY (AND QUIT).

I also see a lot of people taking on programs that aren’t sustainable for their budget and as a result quit before they reach their goal.

For example lets say you go all out and hire a personal trainer and it cost you €400 for two sessions per week.

Assuming you make all the sessions that are only eight sessions in that month, let’s say half the time you are talking about nutrition goals and resting between sets; that’s only 4 hours left for actual work.

What can you expect to achieve in 4 hours?

3.YOU GET SCARED (AND QUIT).

Sometimes the magnitude of the work need to lose weight becomes so overwhelming you say FUCK  it and give up.

The fear of failure and everyone laughing at you causes you to throw in the towel and quit before you reach your goal.

Or you might be too afraid even to get started, check out coach Shannons own experience getting started with her weight loss journey here <<<

4.YOU’RE NOT SERIOUS ABOUT YOU’RE THE GOAL (AND QUIT).

I hear this time and time again.

Can you help with weight loss?

I want to lose weight BUT….

But I’ve tried everything

But I’ve big bones

But I’m unfit

But everyone in my family is overweight it’s genetic

But I don’t like vegetables

But I don’t like going to the gym

I’ve heard them all, and the answer to all of the above is the same.

If you want weight loss, to get fit, get healthy for yourself and your family.

You will do the hard work.

You will do what it takes.

What most people miss is a coach and someone to hold them accountable.

A coach is someone to guide you and show you the way.

Not someone to make you miserable tired and sweaty and fool can do that.

A coach with getting you to enjoy the things, you know you must do to get results.

It’s simple but not easy.

5.YOU LOSE INTENSITY OR ENTHUSIASM, SETTLE (AND QUIT).

Coach Sean explains this below.

The Youtube video is here <<<

6. YOU FOCUS ON SHORT-TERM RESULTS AND NOT ON THE LONG-TERM & YOU PULL OUT WHEN THINGS GET HARD (AND QUIT).

Again you need to think about the big picture and surround yourself with likeminded people that will support your goal.

I wrote about them here <<<

Avoid negative people

Avoid negative people (energy vampires)  that steal your will to live.

That mate that won’t take no for an answer when she offers you biscuits with your tea at lunch.

7.YOU PICK THE WRONG THING TO FOCUS ON AT THE START (AND QUIT).

So many people choose the wrong goal to start.

If you are a dad 40-year-old dad of two with a full-time job and haven’t trained since your last rugby match at the age of 21.

Maybe your priority should be a 21 Day Super Shred program.

Just getting to the gym twice a week for 2-3 month and eating 3-4 real food meals per day while getting 7-8 hours sleep per night is realistic.

When your goals are unrealistic to start with you are doomed to failure, and you will most likely end up worse off than when you started.

Most people don’t realize we only have a limited amount of

TIME – ENERGY – MONEY

to invest into any health and fitness goal and you must invest it wisely if you want results.
