Why I Quit 40k Sales Job To Become A Personal Trainer

“pick the cheapest provider out there they are all the same”

We don’t claim the success of our students, students make their own success.

But we can see every day students going back 8 or 9 years ago are still rockin this industry.

we are often accused of focusing  to much on those who go on to open their own facilites we do this

to show you its possible….. BUT

not everyone wants to, John didn’t and he is now the operations manager in SMART Training, Dublin.

John started in Sales, which was well paid but realised he was living for the weekend……

He wanted a changed but while waiting to do the course with Elite.

An offer in work came up which stopped him in his tracks and this was a

make or break situation

But he had the courage to take the leap, he didn’t want regrets………

What were your fears John before you got into the industry?

I have always had that imposter syndrome, am I good enough?

I was a year looking at your video’s before I signed up as

I let people get into my head, “is personal training really a career”

Am I too old? all my friends are settling down and here am I starting over.

But I knew I had to do it

What challenges have you faced?

I did my course over 5 years ago now, went travelling and kind of lost the motivation for it.

actually came back and did the A12 with impact and found my passion again

when I saw other students doing the course.

Got my head down and got the job in Smart Training where after a year and half I was made operations manager

Where I am training clients, doing sales, coaching getting into the nitty gritty of all sides of the business

Is it what you envisaged?

To be honest when I first qualified thought yeah i’ll definitely have my own gym.

sure I’ll spend my time in between clients drinking coffee in starbucks.

But it is not like that at all its hard work, after training clients, I would still have admin work and also have to fit

in my own professional development so don’t think once you have the cert in your hand that that is it.

elite will give you the tools but you need to apply it.

But make sure you are doing courses that you are going to use not just every course that is out there

will you use it on Monday, if not don’t do it.

What 3 pieces of advice would you give?

  1. Believe in yourself

Get out of your comfort zone, put yourself out there.

Don’t worry about what other people think, if you genuinely want to help people then  go all in.

2. Have faith in yourself.

Elite will give you the tools but you need to apply it, don’t just sit back and go this it and wait for it to happen.

3. Enjoy it

It is going to be hard, people think its going to be easy and is going to come to your quickly but you need to put in the hard graft.

Doing the Elite coaching certificate will get you to the door but you need to make it work

Do you want the tools you will need to go out and be a success in the fitness industry.
